The Freelancer's Guide to Getting Out of the House - Part 17!

January 19, 2018

I'm a big fan of shopping local and leaving the car behind, where possible, so Papo's Coffee, in Ashtead, Surrey, is a great little find for me. It's relatively new to the High Street, taking the place of Greenwise (which still has a branch in Fetcham).

Papo's isn't huge and the café shares the space with the grocery/deli part of the shop too but there's enough room to set up a laptop on either the tables at the back or the breakfast bars at the front.

There are a few food and drink options here and the coffee was good but what I particularly valued on this particular occasion was the quiet. I'm a big fan of a bit of background buzz to help you focus but there are occasions when a softer sound is what you need.

Papo's faces stiff opposition from the well-established Handley's and Munchies, which both sit on the other side of the street, but it did mean that there were relatively few customers at the time I was there (a Saturday morning) - a chance to enjoy the quiet and get some thinking done!

(I had to sample the smoothies as well - this one was banana and mango, which was tasty.)

Welcome to the Freelancer's Guide to Getting Out of the House, Papo's!

Apologies for the brevity of this post - it's no reflection on Papo's, obviously - but this past few weeks have been so manic that I've hardly had time to sit down, let alone write anything more.

I was asked, at relatively short notice, to be a guest speaker at Learn Grow Create's new networking group so I spent a few days working hard on my presentation. They were a fab group of women to talk to  - they really engaged with the topic (business blogging) and will, I'm sure, go on to write amazing blogs for their business!

And on that note, my two Brilliant Blogging Workshops have now both sold out (I've just added a third date in March!) and so has my Children's Writing Workshop in February half-term (I'll be adding another date for this one, too, soon - watch this space!)

Oh - and I've just added a new venue for my adult Writing Workshop: the lovely Sarah & Bendrix in Cheam. All details are over on my Workshops page - and you can book your place there too!

So, it's been a brilliant, bursting-outside-my-comfort-zone, confidence-boosting week - can't wait to see what 's coming next!
