The Freelancer's Guide to Getting Out of the House - Part 14!

November 21, 2017

Just a quick one today as I've got so much to be getting on with for my Writing Workshops and new Brilliant Business Blogging Workshop, which I've just started organising for 24th January 2018!

I always enjoy discovering new places and last week I travelled a little further afield. I was invited to a networking event at Priory Farm in Nutfield, Surrey (and you know how much I love a little bit of networking with fabulous women...) and found that there's a lot going on at this great venue!

On the impressively sized site you'll find a farm shop, a gift shop, a play area and discovery walk for kids, three fishing lakes and a variety of other small businesses, including a nursery, an osteopathy, a catering company, a skin treatment business, a pet store, a mountainboard activity business, a marketing company and the base for an online food platform. Phew!

There are two cafés available: a large one at the front of the building (above) which offers a larger food menu. While I was there, on this weekday morning, it was busy with lots of people sitting at the tables and a counter serving what looked like a good range of hot and cold food.

I sat in the other, much smaller café, right at the back of the shop. It was much quieter so it was a perfect place so set up and work for a couple of hours.

I had only intended to have a coffee but as all the people around me began receiving yummy breakfasts from the kitchen I thought it would be rude to be the only one not eating. So I ordered a toasted teacake, (which was delicious) but then immediately wished I'd also had a hot crumpet, with deliciously melting butter, as one was delivered to the woman next to me...

Nutfield is not somewhere I've ever been to before - and it's just that bit far out for me to visit it regularly for working away from home purposes - but I'd certainly be happy to go to Priory Farm again if I'm ever over that way for any other reason. It was a really attractive environment to work in and having a second, quieter cafe to escape to if the larger of the two is busy is really helpful.

I'll be a bit closer to home for The Freelancer's Guide to Getting Out of the House Part 15 - and if you want to learn why you should be business blogging then have a look at this page for more info and to book your place!

Rosalind.
