The Freelancer's Guide to Getting Out of the House - Part 12!

October 20, 2017

***************************************************************************

Apologies to all of you who received seven emails announcing my last

blog post (it was good but probably not that good...) - hopefully now the

gremlin working behind the scenes has moved on.

****************************************************************************

It would be quite easy to overlook Chad's Coffee House in Manor Green Road, Epsom. Its understated sign doesn't immediately stand out from the others in the block and you'd be forgiven for driving past without noticing this thriving little café.

Inside, however (there is limited outside seating but it was definitely too chilly to try that out today) it's a different matter. The owners have put a lot of thought into their limited space; the decor is bright,  and airy with cute little touches all around: the whole place manages to feel both fresh and warm at the same time.

There's also an eclectic range of cushions nestling on the attractive wooden benches...

Like All Things Nice in Ewell, Chad's Facebook page is basically a scrollable list of saliva-inducing food pictures, making me feel hungry even when I know I'm not. In between all that there's info about their monthly Supper Club and a Games Night and I also found a post from earlier in October mentioning the gift boxes they are going to be preparing to give to cancer patients at the Royal Marsden for Christmas - a lovely thing to do and something that, I'm sure, will be much appreciated.

Their FB page also has testimonials praising the 'warm welcome' and the 'friendly staff' and that was definitely true in my experience - their inviting atmosphere had me wishing I was able to stay for a lot longer than I did.

Chad's has fast WiFi and the extensive hot drinks menu is very reasonably priced in comparison with other coffee shops in the area (£2.10 for cappuccinos and lattes). The sweet counter is very enticing too...

It's always nice to see places that aren't on high streets doing well; you may not get a huge footfall but if you're getting lots of visitors via word of mouth then you know you're on the right track. I'd never heard of Chad's a few weeks ago but then it started popping up all over the place - comments on Facebook, people mentioning it at networking meetings etc. - so I knew I had to review it. And I'm really glad I did.

You know by now how much The Freelancer's Guide to Getting Out of the House loves supporting places who give back to their communities (think All Things Nice, All Saints in Leatherhead etc.) and Chad's Coffee House definitely qualifies as another one that local people should get behind.

Chad's Coffee House - you are now a welcome addition to The Freelancer's Guide!

Where to next, I wonder?

Rosalind.

P.S. Having mentioned All Things Nice a couple of times in this post then I just need to remind you that my next Writing Workshop will take place there on Wednesday 8th November between 10am and 12pm.

Places are limited and they are filling up fast, so if you fancy taking a couple of relaxing hours out to practise the art of free writing then take a look at my Writing Workshop page and book yourself in!
